PICTURE OF THE WEEK
Village Buried by Mudslide
Hopes to rebuild with funds from just-opened spa.

Earnings are off and prices depressed, but careful stock picking can still pay off big time. My favorites: Halliburton (HAL), an oil services company with good connections, well positioned for the post-Saddam era. Guns R Us (GRU), recent IPO with bullish outlook as long as the nation is gripped by fear and the NRA is in the driver's seat, both solid bets. Acme Strip Mining & Mountain Top Removal (ASM), overlooked gem with more business than they can handle. Worldwide Security Tours (WST), initial response to this startup, which provides American tourists with armed guards in an increasingly hostile but still picturesque world, has been outstanding.
